New pillow cover

We had a pillow on the couch, with an old seminole cover (of which I cannot seem to find a picture, but will take one at a later time, it is too dark now). I made it ages ago, before I had these three here, who for some reason keep thinking that the pillow (as all my quilts in the sitting room are) is a space rocket or a fishing boat or a brick in their castle or a football or something similar. Thus the cover started fraying, then had a big tear in it, so I had to make a new one. And this the result. I saw this pattern at various places and just fell in love with it, so I wanted to make something using it. And suddenly it dawned on me, that it would be perfect for our new pillow cover. And here it is!

I used my hand dyed fabrics, and some IKEA's solids. The back has two lovely buttons on its overlapping parts.

And now my trio will not be allowed to throw this little thing around the room using it in all their role plays. Or I'll just make a new cover again some time... :-)

Van egy régi seminole mintás párnánk a nappaliban. Illetve volt, mert kedves gyermekeim szerint minden párna, takaró, quilt különféle szerepjátékra alkalmas, lehetnek ezek az űrhajótól a futball labdán át az építőanyagig a kuckózáskor bármik, így a párna előbb enyhe foszlásnak, majd erős szakadásnak indult. Kénytelen voltam újat varrni, és mivel ezt a mintát már régóta szerettem volna felhasználni valamiben, itt volt a tökéletes alkalom. Az anyagok a tavalyi festésből származó maradékaim, meg néhány IKEA-s egyszínű anyag, a hátulján pedig 2 kedves gomb van a Kondorosi úti leárazós helybeli zsákmányomból :-)
A büdöskölkök meg innentől nem dobálhatják a párnát szanaszét. Vagy varrok új huzatot megint... :-)

WISP

Now, this one has been a real WISP for me, and this is also my October for finish for OPAM. I received this DMC kit from my best friend, who always finds me very challenging presents. The kit includes four patterns, this one above, the others show cutlery or teapots or chandeliers, all in this old fashioned way, and with metal glimmering DMC threads to make them. I started this one, planning to slowly work my way through the others as well, but now I am not so sure... maybe when I retire and after I'll have finished Emma's doll house cross stitch... It was really difficult to sew with this kind of thread, it kept snapping, and fraying, and then one day I discovered in the instructions (why oh why did I not read it properly before???), that there were two ways to make these patterns: either using only metal threads, or using them partly just to highlight part of the design. So I quickly replaced a few skeins with 'normal' threads and half of this little picture is made the first way, and half is made the second way. Can you guess which is made by which way? :-)

I love all of them after all the trouble of course.

Ez a kép egy DMC csomagból készült. A barátnőm mindig ilyen roppant bonyolult készletekkel lep meg, valami hihetetlen hite van bennem, muszáj megvarrnom őket, nem okozhatok csalódást neki :-) 4 minta volt a készletben, a fenti, aztán evőeszközös, csilláros és teáskannás. Hozzá fémszálas hímzőfonalak jártak, amikkel nagyon nehéz varrni, foszlanak, szakadnak, merevek. Amúgy szépek. Már kivarrtam pár bútordarabot, mire aprólékosabban elolvasva a leírást rájöttem, hogy nem muszáj mindent ezekkel varrni, lehet, úgy is, hogy csak néhány színnél használom a fémszáls fonalat, a többit 'normál' fonallal varrom. Szaladtam is a boltba rögtön! :-)
Vajon melyik bútor hogyan készült, kitaláljátok? :-)

Amúgy mind nagyon tetszik.

Quilt Show

As in Spring, I am going to participate in Park City Girl's Virtual Quilt Show. It was such fun, I have to repeat it! :-)

This quilt is in fact a wall hanging. I'd started sewing it for our bedroom in our flat before this one, but hadn't finish it before we decided to move to a bigger place. It sat in a box for quite a while, and in the meantime we learned that we were expecting Baby No 3., and of course she needed a wallhanging in the nursery. So I quickly finished it, and instead of our bedroom, it is hanging in Emma's room - just perfect for a little girl!

It is a traditional sort of quilt. I hand sewed all the blocks, which are from my 5 inch quilt squares book, increasing the size of course. The borders were sewn by machine, and it is hand quilted in the ditch. The fabrics are from Debbie Mumm's mostly.

Épp úgy, mint tavasszal, most is részt veszek Park City Girl Quilt Show-ján.

Ez a takaró valójában egy falvédő, amit még az előző lakásunkba terveztem, az ágyunk mögött lógott volna. Közben elköltöztünk, kiderült, hogy jön a 3 csemete, és persze kell neki egy falvédő. Így gyorsan összekaptam magam és befejeztem a falvédőt.

Kézzel varrtam a blokkokat, az 5 inch quilt blokkok könyvemből, felnagyítva azokat. A keretet géppel varrtam rá, majd a varrásvonalban kézzel steppeltem. Az anyagok Debbie Mumm Mum's The Word sorozatából vannak.

Lucky me

I've got the most generous Stitchers Angel partner. I received my parcel today, and the box was fully packed with the most beautiful goodies. Just look at them! The list is an armful:
a little potholder with a rose and Insul Bright inside to save my kitchen top;
a notebook cover with a notebook inside;
a scissors keeper with a pair of scissors inside - I love scissors!;
a pincushion and matching needle keeper;
a rose bag;
a box with a rose on its top, and little rose buttons and Holland pumps inside;
little coasters with windmills;
a table runner with windmill;
and even a piece of fabric with Dutch motives, like windmills, tulips, canals, etc.

Can you believe such generosity? All these things for me. I am so happy and grateful, and just L-O-V-E them!

Stitchers Angels 2009

My presents have arrived to their new owner, and she likes them! Wow! Great!
I mentioned that my partner's particulars made me smile. Well the reason was this: of all participants of the swap, my partner was a girl from next door, from Slovakia, and she is in fact Hungarian, even her blog is in Hungarian! So we had no language barriers in our correspondance - of course, I only wrote in Hungarian in my final letter, I didn't tell her at the beginning who I was. Funny, isn't it? :-)

A meglepetéseim megérkeztek az új tulajdonoshoz, és tetszenek is neki - hurrá! Mint említettem, mosolyogtam, mikor megkaptam a partnerem adatait a cserebere kezdetén. Hogy miért? Mert egy Szlovákiában élő magyar foltvarrót ajándékozhattam meg, a sok-sok jelentkező közül a "szomszédlány"-t kaptam. Vicces, nem? :-) Persze csak az utolsó levelemben árultam el, honnan való vagyok, addig szigorúan angolul írtam, az álca az álca kérem szépen! :-)
