Bloggers Quilt Festival is coming again!

Tavaly részt vettem az online quilt kiállításon, Amy-nél a Park City Girl-nél. Hamarosan ismét kezdődik a fesztivál, a részleteket elolvashatod Amy-nél. Pumpkins everywhere

I saw these pumpkins at Patchwork Pottery and just couldn't resist doing a few of mine too. I love pumpkins, as you mus have worked it out by now... I love looking at them, making them, and even eating them, but as my family hates them, I do not eat them as often as I would like to. I mean it is no fun eating pumpkin soup for days with no end...

Patchwork Pottery blogján láttam ezeket a sütőtököket és muszáj volt nekem is csinálnom néhány sajátot. Imádom a sütőtököt, szeretem a látványát, szeretem varrni őket, és szeretem enni is, de mivel a családom nem szereti, nem ehetek olyan gyakran, mint szeretnék. Mert napokig sütőtök levest enni még én sem szeretek...

My newest finish

Opps, someone jumped on it, sorry :-)

Hereby I present my newest and dearest finish for a long time, my Pumpkin Wallhanging. I have been planning to make a pumpkin wallhanging since we came back from Sydney, which wasn't yesterday, and now I did it! And I L-O-V-E it!

I did 3 spiderwebs by quilting on it, and my kids just love it, and they made up tricky questions this morning, like "how many spiderwebs can you see in the wallhanging?", and I said 6 in fact, as you can see them on the back too. And my daughter said that as they will not be at home at Halloween, there was no point in hanging up the wallhanging, but I reassured her, that it was not going to hang on the wall only at Halloween. In fact it made its debute yesterday and can stay up there until it will be time to change it for Christmas decorations (after all, till today we had a ... I don't know how to admit this... an easter wallhanging up).

I am very happy with this little wallhanging.

Itt a legújabb és legkedvesebb művem, a Sütőtökös kép. Mióta hazajöttünk Sydney-ből, ami nem tegnap történt, azóta tervezek varrni egy ilyet, és végre meg is tettem.

3 pókhálót varrtam rá steppelésként, és reggel a gyerekek találós kérdésest játszottak, hogy "hány pókhálót látsz a képen?" - mondtam, hogy valójában hatot, mert a hátulján is látszanak :-) Emmus meg kifejtette, hogy "semmi értelme, hogy" csináltam, mert ők nem is lesznek itthon Mindenszentekkor! Megnyugtattam, hogy ne aggódjon, nem csak aznap lesz a falon a kép, igazából már ott is van, és marad is, míg el nem jön a karácsonyi dekorálás ideje. Végülis eddig egy húsváti tyúkos, kakasos kép lógott a helyén...

Nagyon tetszik az új képem.

Treasures

I am starting to realise that I have treasures in the cupboard of my sewing room. I never cared for designer fabrics, I just bought what I liked, but nowadays I keep finding familiar names from blogland on the selvedges of my long bought fabrics.
Before we left Sydney in 1996, I went to a long advertised quilt shop somewhere on the outskirts of the city. I had bought fabrics before that too, of course, in Spotlight and Lindcraft, in my fave shop in Randwick, and on our trips to the little quilt shows around NSW, like Bowral, Berrima, Katoomba, etc., but on my last visit to a real quilt shop, I just went mad. Well, what do you expect? I knew we were coming home, had no idea if I would be able to buy any fabrics suitable for quilting at home, and I didn't know that quilting had already sneaked in Hungary too in my absence, so I bought a lot of fabric. And I mean a lot... like I never bought more than 20 metres of gorgeous - and expensive - fabric in one swoop... (I can never thank enough my understanding husband that he did not utter one word of disapproval while I was going crazy there).
Now, I have Debbie Mumms galore, I love her designs, that was the only one where I did know that she was a designer, but the rest were just lovely fabrics for me. And yesterday I realised, that the inside of my sister's bag is a Carla Miller for Rowan. And today I started a pumpkin wallhanging which I was planning to make but always postponed for something more important for years, and last night I just had an idea, so I am working on it now, and two of the fabrics are from Virginia Robertson for Fabri-Quilt. I also have RJR and Jinny Beyer fabrics, just to mention a few.
Since I am learning more about designer fabrics, I always felt sorry for myself for not being able to buy all the gorgeous fabrics seen in the online shops, but now I am feeling much better - and I will keep my sewing room under lock! :-)

Kezdek rájönni, hogy a varrószobám szekrényében kincseket őrzök. Sose izgattak különösebben a designer anyagok, egyszerűen megvettem, amik tetszettek. Mostanában azonban folyton netről és blogokból ismerős nevekre bukkanok az anyagaim szélén.
Mielőtt hazaköltöztünk Sydney-ből 1996-ban, elmentem a város szélén egy quilt boltba, amiről már sokat hallottam. Korábban is vásároltam persze, boltokban, meg a különféle quilt kiállításokon körbe Új Dél Wales-ben, de ezen az utolsó igazi quilt boltos bevásárláson kissé megbolondultam. Nem tudtam, lesz-e itthon foltvarráshoz való anyag, meg azt se, hogy míg távol voltunk, itthon is terjedni kezdett a foltkór, úgyhogy vettem egy csomó anyagot. Sokat, tényleg sokat, több, mint 20 méter, drága anyagot egyszerre, és az én drága férjemnek semmi ellenvetése nem volt...
Úgyhogy van egy csomó Debbie Mumm-om - ő volt az egyetlen, akiről már akkor tudtam, hogy designer és imádtam/om az anyagait, most is félve használok belőle, nehogy elfogyjanak...-, de a többi az "csak" tetszetős anyag volt. Aztán tegnap felfedeztem, hogy a húgom szütyőjének a belseje Carla Miller a Rowan-tól - azért tegnap, mert este online boltokat nézegettem és megakadt a szemem a néven...-, ma meg elkezdtem egy sütőtökös képet, amit már évek óta szeretnék csinálni, és 2 anyag Virginia Robertson a Fabri-Quilt-től, és vannak RJR és Jinny Beyer és egyéb anyagaim is.
Mostanában kezdem felfedezni a designer anyagokat, és eddig sajnáltam, hogy sose fogok tudni venni belőlük, és tessék, erre kiderül, hogy vannak nekem olyanjaim, máris jobban érzem magam! És ezentúl szigorúan zárom a varrószobámat! :-)

Stitchers Angel presents

The little surprises for my Stitchers Angel partner are getting together nicely. I finished 2 presents of the neccessary 3, and also bought some small additional presents, like the rose ribbon, and a piece of rose patchwork fabric.

Gyűlnek a Stitchers Angel cserében kapott partnerem ajándékai. Kettőt már befejeztem az előírt háromból, és vettem is néhány apróságot még mellé, mint a rózsás szalag és a rózsamintás patchwork anyag.

For my little sister

I had made two little bags for myself similar to this one a few months back, and my sister had asked for one for her birthday, so I made this one for her. The stitchery is my last Wonky House stitchery, the outside fabric is 'Mumm's the Word' from Debbie Mumm, the inside fabric I bought in Hungary. She has just bought a new flat which is supposed to be ready by her birthday, so this is her little New Home Bag and birthday present.

Magamnak csináltam 2 ehhez hasonló kis zacskót, és a húgom is kért egyet, úgyhogy ez az övé lesz. A hímzés az utolsó Dülöngélő Házikó blokkom, a külső anyag Debbie Mumm, a bélést itthon vettem. A húgom most vett egy új lakást, ami éppen a szülinapjára készül el, szóval ez lesz a lakásavató és szülinapi ajándéka.

Quilt morning - Közös varrás

I went to a quilt morning today. It was organised by one of the Budapest quilt clubs, Budafolt (Buda Patch - isn't it a lovely name? Buda is the western side of our capital, Pest is on the other side the River Danube, and this group has its meetings in Buda, thus the name) and it was great! I met a lot of ladies whom I "know" from Internet forums or from blogs, and a few whom I have already met at earlier occasions or last year's quilt camp, and I also invited one of my friends to come with me.
We made coasters - or rather one coaster, as we were hand sewing, but I have 2 more to finish at home.
There were plenty to eat and drink, and BUY! Yes, there were a few shops selling everything a quilter can dream of, and new things we have never heard of until today but now know that they are just essential for us. I bought some fabric and flower pins and a bias making kit and buttons and bag handles. All highly neccessary :-)
I had a lovely morning, thank you, ladies! :-)

És most Juhizs kedvéért, hogy ne Kriza bünti blogja legyek, magyarul :-)))))))))

Ma reggel közös varráson voltam. Az egyik budapesti csapat szervezte, a Budafolt, és nagyon klassz volt. Találkoztam a fórumról és a blogokból ismert "nevekkel" és néhány olyan hölggyel, akit már korábban is ismertem a tavalyi varrásról, vagy a foltvarró táborból. Vittem magammal az egyik barátnőmet is.
Poháralátétet készítettünk, egyet ott, és kettő itthoni varrásra vár.
Rengeteg finomsággal vártak bennünket a Budafoltos lányok, és több bolt is kitelepült. Volt ott minden, amiről egy foltvarró álmodik, meg egy csomó újdonság, amiről eddig még nem is hallottunk, de most már tudjuk, hogy nélkülözhetetlenek. Vettem anyagot, meg virágfejű gombostűt, meg ferdepánt készítőt, meg gombokat, meg táskafület. Valamennyi elengedhetetlen kellék :-)
Remekül éreztem magam, köszönöm, lányok! :-)

I almost forgot...

...that the little Rose Bag is also a finish in the OPAM for September! Silly me. But I am so tired, what with the start of school, kindergarten, housekeeping, organising out of school activities for my trio, attending parent-teacher meetings, catching up on all the areas neglected during summer in the housecleaning, sewing for my son's class (I used up 10 metres of fabric making table and shelf top runners, curtains, etc), sewing for my daughter's kindergarten (haven't even started it...) and helping out a friend typing her interviews which she scribbled, organising all the check ups for and around the house (like heating, sewage, car, etc) and for the kids (like allergy doctor, broken elbow which turned out not to be broken after all thankfully, but it took us 6 hours and 2 hospitals and a lot of my nerves to learn this...), and starting to prepare myself for next week when hopefully I can start working again (from home, translating films).
But tomorrow I am going to a patchwork meeting with a friend, so THAT will be great! :-)

The result

This is a little bag I made of the fabrics shown in the previous post. It is one of the presents for my Stitchers Angel partner, I hope (s)he will like it :-) It is funny who I got as a partner, it made me smile :-)

The stitchery is from a DMC pattern book, the rest is my design, ideas I saw and used here and there. I decided not to box and cut the corners on the inside, but turn them up on the outside - I love it this way too! The lining fabric is like a piece of patchwork in itself, it would be too stupid to cut it up for anything, but perfect for this little rose bag.
