Budafolt

I joined a patchwork group called Budafolt. We meet every Thursday morning at the local cultural centre. I used to belong to a group called Coogee Patchwork Group in Sydney, but I did not join any other group when I returned to Hungary, apart from the unofficial and unregistered group we founded with my friends called Wild Bikers Patchwork Group. I will not tell you the story of the name here now, but maybe one day I will... :-)

Anyway, it is great to have a group again, and we are going to have an exhibition in May, where among other things, we'll exhibit a quilt made up of blocks sewn by the members of the group.

This is my block and as I love challenges when it comes to patchwork, I HAD to make a block of needle turn applique with 53 small leaves... The block is 20 centimeter square (8 inch square) and I hand quilted around some of the leaves (maybe half of them).

I am quite satisfied with the result. The pattern was found in the Applique Special of Australian Qulting and Patchwork, which used to be - and is - my favourite patchwork magazine in the good old days in Sydney.

Fogalmam sincs, hogyan mondják magyarul a "needle turn applique"-t, de úgy csináltam - azaz a levelek varrásráhagyását a tűvel gondosan a darabka alá tologattam varrás közben. A levelek kb. felét körbe steppeltem kézzel. Meglehetősen elégedett vagyok az eredménnyel :-) A mintát a kinti kedvenc újságomban találtam, az Australian Patchwork and Quilting Applique Special-ben.

Valahogy szemléltetni kellett volna, hogy ezek a levélkék milyen mütyürnyiek.

One of my aims this year is to learn to applique better and have joined some friends to do this: now it seems all I see is applique and I am so in love with the Antique Australian quilts. :) I just love your leaves, well done, Kriza!
