Bloggers' Quilt Festival 2011 Spring

Huh, after some waiting for blogger I can at last post my entry to this year's festival...- hurray! :-)

Here is my entry to the Bloggers' Quilt Festival at Amy:

I made this bargello quilt in 1997, after our return home from Sydney, Australia. We lived with my husband in Sydney for 3 wonderful years between 1993-1996, while I was working for the Hungarian Commercial Consulate, and I started quilting there (not at the Consulate of course :-) ).

First I attended a TAFE evening course, which our group enjoyed greatly, so our teacher suggested that we should continue our weekly meetings even after the course had finished, and thus we did exactly that. We went to Coogee Oval, to the Senior Citizens' Club every Wednesday from 6 till 10 p.m. and sewed, had cups of tea, and talked. It was wonderful. All the ladies were very nice and I loved their company. One of them, Pat always made the most wonderful quilts, like her quilt made of postage stamp sized pieces and similar things :-) She also did a bargello quilt, and kept saying that bargello was easy. So after our return to Hungary one day I decided to make one. And she was right, it WAS easy :-) And in her honour, I call my quilt 'Following Pat'.

This quilt was on show in Hungary shortly after I finished it, and a lady asked my permission to photograph it. I let her, of course!, and it turned out that she was writing a book and my quilt is featured in it - wow! :-)
